Description This highly insulated down piece from Rab combines a water and windproof membrane for weather resistance and some of the highest quality down to ensure the warmth to weight ratio is as high as possible. A Pertex Shield, fully taped waterproof outer material provides total weather resistance. Unlike a synthetic material, down loses it’s warmth when it gets wet, so having this material not only saves the down inside the jacket from clumping together and becoming totally useless, it also stops you getting cold, wet and miserable. Rab use 800 fill power fluorocarbon-free down throughout the jacket. All this lovely down is captured within a narrow box wall construction to maximise loft and minimise cold spots. To further increase the practicality of this brilliant jacket Rab has used Hydrophobic down, basically each and every cluster of down is treated at source with Nikwax environmentally friendly, fluorocarbon free special products to make them perform better in damp conditions. Although Hydrophobic down is not waterproof it dries much faster, absorbs less water and retains loft far better than untreated down. To give the Resolution the belt and braces approach Rab have covered all this Hydrophobic down with the superb Pertex Shield fabric. This tough nylon fabric has a breathable microporous waterproof coating to protect from wind and water whilst reducing condensation build-up within the jacket.. A box wall construction also ensures a far greater insulating ability than other methods, as there is no stitch point going right through the jacket to let any heat out. The hood is also heavily insulated with down and includes a wired peak and the ability to have a climbing helmet underneath.
