The CRKT M16-02B Deadbolt features a number on innovations, but one of them may be the strongest lock ever put into a production folder. It’s called the Deadbolt® and was designed by Brazilian Knifemaker Flavio Ikoma. When the blade is deployed, it’s held securely in place by a series of steel bolts that interlock with the base of the blade. What would normally be the pivot is a button that allows the user to disengage the lock without putting their fingers in harm’s way. Deployment automatically engages the lock; disengagement is achieved by pressing the pivot button. It could not be simpler. Designed by the legendary Kit Carson, the CRKT M16 was introduced in 1999. Helping to define the burgeoning category of ‘tactical folder’, the M16 earned its place in the pockets of soldiers all over the world. The latest iteration combines 3 innovative features to elevate the iconic folder: the aforementioned Deadbolt locking system, the utlra-smooth IKBS™ ball bearing pivot, and CRKT’s legendary assisted opening mechanism (designed by Ken Onion). The result is a robust, fast folder suitable for office or battlefield. Reversible pocket clip for right or left tip-up carry.
